"GOD KNOWS WHAT YOU CAN AND CANNOT"
God knew you before you knew you yourself. He knew you when you were a thought in the mind of your parents. He knew you when you were a clot of blood in the womb. He knew you before you showed your first sign of life, before you made your first movement, your first cry, and smile. “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body, and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. 16 You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed” (Psalm 139:13-16). Since God knows you this much then it is obvious that He knows all your weakness and limitation. “For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust” (Psalm 103:14). Our lack, inability, and any deficiency is neither hidden from God nor surprises Him.
People do anything it takes to hid their weakness, and vulnerability. Some use academics, wealth, social status, or an admirable physical feature to cover up. However, we stand before God completely exposed. “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable” (Hebrews 4:13). If we recognize and understand that God is divine, infinite, and the creator of all things we will not consider it embarrassing to admit before Him that we are weak and vulnerable. It is only the arrogant that refuses to admit that he is a creation in the presence of a creator.
God also knows our strength and our ability than we do. When God called Jeremiah to undertake a mission, the prophet didn’t know what he was capable of, so he wanted to be excused. “O Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m too young!”(Jeremiah 1:6). God chided him and said, do not say, I am a Child. Also, when God called Moses to lead the Israelite’s deliverance from captivity, he was full of excuses because he didn’t know what God knew about him. “But Moses pleaded with the LORD, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled” (Exodus 4:10). Again, God spoke to Gideon to go and save Israel from the Midianite’s oppression. He had several excuses, because he did not know what God knew about him. 12 When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” 13 “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.” 14 The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?” 15 “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”(Judges 6:12-15).
You will never know who you are and what you are capable of until you know the one who created you and knows you more than you know yourself. The mighty power of God is at work in those that believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and are redeemed by the blood of Christ. “Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think”(Ephesians 3:20). He knows you, He said, “You are more than a conqueror.” He knows you, He said, “Any weapon formed against you shall not prosper.” He knows you, he said, “You are the head, and not the tail.” He said, “You are blessed beyond the curse.” He said, “He has given you hope and a future.”
